The N.W. blew harder today than Earl did yesterday. I don't regret hauling my boat, with the inaccuracy of the predictions the storm could just as easily have been 100 miles to the west.

Bit of a dud for sure. Schleprock and I got out for a few hours before the blow and had some very nice fishing in FAC conditions. Saw exactly two other boats. Back in by 3:30 before the wind and rain. Today is worse than yesterday, by a mile...

Thanks, Cape-rover. I think you got it. I thought I had read that blue runners only grew to 1-2 lbs., but your link shows that that understanding is incorrect. The picture looks like the right fish. Bob

Definitely not a blue runner. This was a 6-8# fish. Don't think it was an AJ, since there was no hint of that lateral stripe, but the shape kind of fits. Other jacks seem to have more of a football shape than a bluefish. Still not sure. Bob

I hauled my old girl as well but am getting really really really tired of the nonstop, 24/7 hype. How many pictures do we have to see of people hauling boats? Looks like (G)Earl has fizzled and has become a dud. I'll shut up now.
