This summmer I am interested in kayaking around the tip of the Cape. Is anyone familar with the currents in the area or aware of any commerically available charts that show the currents to expect around the outer Cape. I've looked at Eldridge. Although it provides current information for other areas around the Cape, I found nothing for Race Point down to Chatham.

Kayaker from North Attleboro-

Summer is just about over and I am hoping that you were not swept into the bay or out into open water because no one responded to your question.

Race Point has some strong water when the tide is moving. Incomming and out going are equally tough and can create big waves if the wind is right. But the truly ugly stuff is usually in the deep water.

If I were a kayaker, I'd stick tight to the shore and choose to travel during slack tide

Also a late response, I think the currents out on the ocean side are strong and the surf can be "interesting". Unless you know what you are doing I'd make sure I had a friend along or a guide who knows his/her stuff.

From my point of view anywhere on the bay side works fine. You can get into some hefty white caps on the bay but it is usually fine for kayaking. N. Truro to Land's end, around the point to Hatches Harbor (just before Race Point) are all fine places to kayak.
